Optional, and nothing depends on it
Account
Everything on this site works with no account: progress is saved in this browser and always will be. An account is one extra thing on top — a copy on the server, so the same progress shows up on your laptop and your phone. Sign in on a second computer and the two are merged: nothing on either side is thrown away.
Checking…
Your progress is saved on this device. Making an account uploads what is already here — it does not replace it with anything.

Only used as your username. Nothing is ever sent to it.
At least 8 characters.
This site is asking for a code before it will make new accounts.
There is no password reset
This site cannot send email, so there is no “forgot password” link and no way to recover a lost password. Write it down somewhere. If it is lost, nothing on your devices is lost with it — the progress is still in each browser, and you can always take a file backup from Progress & backup and make a new account.
Syncing happens on its own when a page loads and a few seconds after you check something off; it is silent when it works. Logging out leaves every last thing on this device exactly where it is — it only stops the copying.
What travels, and what does not
Visited pages, recorded exhibits, ready-when checks, your explanations, predict answers, interview checks, exhibit photos and captions, the review queue, build-log drafts, and the pages you marked “stuck” all travel with the account. Theme, text size, focus mode, and which outline groups are open stay on each device, because those describe the screen you are looking at rather than the work you have done.
The file backup and progress code on the progress page still work exactly as before, with or without an account. They are the thing to reach for if you want a copy you hold yourself.
